“30 Billion Power…” Nigerians blame Davido as the Commissioner of Police allegedly gets Demoted

The internet has gone haywire and buzzing after the news of the alleged demotion of the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Edgal Imohimi, who gave a statement earlier in a video today calling out Nigerian award-winning artiste, Davido as a potential culprit to the death of his friend, Tagbo.

Below is the commissioner’s statement

The news of his demotion was released by Sahara reporters on Twitter stating that the Mike Okiro led Police Service Commission has demoted the Lagos Commissioner of Police to Deputy Commissioner of Police after initial anticipatory promotion. They went further to state that both Mr. Edgal Imohimi and Kogi State Commissioner of Police, Ali Jaga are to revert to their old ranks of Deputy Commissioner of police which is according to the memo of the Police Service Commission.

Nigerians are not taking this development likely as they believe it is too much of a coincidence that the Police Commissioner was demoted after making a statement against Nigerian singer, Davido. These social media respondents went further to state that Davido is using his power and “30 Billion” to pull strings and avert justice.

For some other people, this development was necessary as they believe it is very unprofessional for the state Commissioner of Police to reveal details of ongoing investigations and also puts Davido safety at risk since he also gave out the address of the singer in full without any discretion.

This news of demotion has although been countered by Vanguard newspaper who has put a call through to the Police High Command in Abuja which in turned debunked the news stating that Edgal Imohimi is still the Commissioner of Police for Lagos State.

According to Vanguardngr.com, this report was supported by a Chief Superintendent of Police, the Force Public Relations Officer, Jimoh Moshood who said that Mr. Edgal Imohimi is still the Commissioner of Police in acting capacity and while the Police Service Commission has the power to appoint, promote and discipline officers, it has no power to demote except the Force disciplinary committee authorizes them to.

As promised, we will bring updates to you as the story continues to unfold.
